    Electrical Ballasts

ProLampSales carries a wide selection of electrical ballasts for lighting. Find the electrical ballast you need easier by clicking on one of the categories below. If you do not see what you are looking for, call 800.784.1998 to speak with a lighting specialist. In many cases, we can find the ballast you need for your light fixture at a competitive price.

    About Ballasts

Electrical ballasts are designed to limit the amount of current in an electrical circuit. There are numerous types of ballasts for fluorescent and high-intensity discharge lamps. We also carry LED drivers in this category, which have much the same function as ballasts for traditional lighting.

    Fluorescent Ballasts

The fluorescent ballasts in this category are designed to be used with linear fluorescent tubes, compact fluorescent bulbs, and circline fluorescents. Currently, we carry electronic and magnetic instant start and programmed rapid start ballasts for 1-4 lamps, in a variety of voltages and ballast factors.

    Emergency Ballasts

Emergency ballasts are designed to power lights in the event of a general power outage. When the power fails, the emergency ballast switches operation from normal to emergency mode to power the connected lamps for a period of time.

    Germicidal Ballasts

Ballasts for ultraviolet germicidal bulbs are designed with efficiency and safety in mind. These air and water purification systems are often much more complex than traditional light fixtures, so the germicidal ballasts are manufactured to meet the requirements of these systems.

    Low Temperature Ballasts

Low temperature fluorescent ballasts are designed to optimize light output from bulbs when temperatures are lower than the operating temperature range of regular ballasts. They adjust automatically in colder temperatures to provide optimal light output. The low temperature ballasts are often used in refrigerated indoor areas.

    HID Ballasts

Similar to fluorescent ballasts, HID ballasts provide the voltage required to start a high intensity discharge lamp, as well as regulate the voltage once the lamp is started. This provides the required flow of electrical current to the bulb, optimizing bulb life and light output.

    LED Drivers

LED drivers are required to operate LED lamps and modules, come in constant current or constant voltage designs. AC LED drivers are also used primarily with LED MR16 bulbs to convert halogen to LED.
